I visited the Toledo Zoo not too long ago, and there were some interesting things. The polar bears were fun to watch, but they were in such high-demand that we were forced to keep moving so that we couldn't gawk for more than a few minutes. The hippo looks so overstuffed and friendly that it's hard to believe that among mammals they kill more people in Africa than any other (in fact, one swam right by the window and laughed at me - probably thought I looked tasty). The monkeys threw feces. Not while I was there but I'm assuming it happens.
There were a few extra-notable tableaux, however...
First, there was the bald eagle in a cage. Unfortunately I have no photo to prove this, but it was probably a cynical prank that a zookeeper pulled once, and people thought it was so cleverly ironic that they continued it going.
Second was the "I Spy" room. This is where you try to find little things in a busy picture. I wonder if this room is there so that the animals can look at the humans for once, instead of the other way around. Here it is. Can you spot the dinosaur? For 2 bonus points can you find Yoda?

Lastly, we got an amazing glimpse of the natural behavior of Giraffes in the wild. The opportunity presented itself on the "Safari Railway," an adventurous 10 mile-per-hour train ride into the heart of the African Veldt. Here are a couple of images that illustrate what Giraffes do in the wild. "Giraffes Gone Wild," that is.
Step 1: I lift my tail

Step 2: You drink my pee

I guess it's more important than I thought to stay hydrated. Is it in you?
